Welcome back to Music Is The Answer brought to you by meeeee, Marcus Barnes. As I said last week, I’ve adjusted my publishing schedule to allow me to get my monthly techno reviews out today. No mix (yet) as I’m still mega busy with some big meaty articles. Hopefully I’ll find time in the next week or so…
As mentioned in my last newsletter I’ve now cancelled my Amazon Prime membership - especially after seeing news this week that Jeff Bezos’ net worth is now $200billion. I believe in the power of voting with our money, so I’m now looking into Amazon alternatives and ordering direct from suppliers. So what if delivery takes longer than 24 hours?!
Anyway, here we are. This is a relatively short edition seeing as it’s only been a week since the last one.
If you’re enjoying my newsletter, please let me know and/or share my work if you can… it all helps.
Indie Blog Archive 006: Frankie Knuckles
As it was Frankie Knuckles Day earlier this week I’ve dug up a lengthy interview I did with him way back in late 2012. It’s a great read and one of my proudest moments as an interviewer.
Techno Reviews: August 2020
Got a seriously good selection of music this month, including a VERY good album by Julian Muller and Floorplan using the power of Detroit techno to highlight a critical issue with their tune of the month. Plus loads more excellence.
Artist Tip
Machine Woman put me on to Rose Bonica a little while ago and I’m really digging her music. Randomly, Rose got in touch with me last week out of the blue, on the same day I’d pitched the idea of doing an artist feature on her to Bandcamp’s editorial platform. We had a chat and she sent me her album Tears for the Tea Maker, due out next month. I’m listening to it now and it’s bloody brilliant. Check her out here and watch this trailer for her LP…
Before I Go…
Big up to Miss Ayaba for reminding me about this absolute gem of a tune!
